A visually stunning dessert

The peeled pears are slowly poached in red wine with sugar, cinnamon and cloves until they are tender and have absorbed the poaching liquid, turning deep red. The reduced wine becomes a sauce that rounds off the dessert.

Ingredients:

4 pears

500 ml red wine

150 g sugar

1 cinnamon stick, 3 cloves

Method:

Peel and halve the pears.

Bring the wine, sugar and spices to the boil.

Poach the pears in the liquid for 20 minutes.

Serve warm or cold.
